A nanny cam (short for camera) is a hidden video camera

that one can secretly install within their home, this being the

usual workplace for private caregivers, such as nannies. The

nanny cam has usually one purpose - to monitor and record

the activities of nannies, etc. in a covert manner. To certain

parents or guardians of children, the use of the nanny cam is

justifiably, a necessity of life. To some nannies, it represents

an infringement of their privacy and deemed an inappropriate

measure, that taints the relationship between the nanny and

the employer. In recent years, there has been much media

coverage in both criminal and civil court cases regarding use

of a nanny cam in trial proceedings. Our research has shown

that nanny cam recordings have proven the guilt of certain

nannies in child abuse allegations, while in other cases the

nanny cam has vindicated the accused. The issue of using

or not using this device is a very delicate one. As an Agency,

we place nannies in good faith and in a trusting manner. The

clients who hire our nannies do have a right and certainly an
