A family caregiver is a person who manages or provides direct assistance to a loved one, or a patient in their care. The caregiver helps with day to day activities because of the patients chronic condition, cognitive limitations or age. A family caregiver can be a volunteer or a paid employee. Also included in the category of family caregivers are nannies, senior companions, home nurses, homecare providers, homemakers and health care personnel, who are usually hired through the services of an employment agency or nanny agency, such as “A House Call Service”.
